Understated Island Living

A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where the days are sea-led and beautifully slow.

Cala, Calm, Repeat

A designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Menorca is slower, softer, and more introspective than its Balearic siblings. It’s a place we keep going back to. The villas we work with here have been restored with sensitivity, allowing the materials and history to speak. Many are exclusive and kept off the radar, offered quietly through trusted partnerships with those who know the island best.

Menorca destination highlights

Menorca feels quieter, slower and wonderfully unspoilt. Think harbour evenings in old towns, coastal paths leading to hidden calas, and days on the water discovering beaches you can only reach by boat.

Ciutadella and Mahón, west to east

Start with Ciutadella for its elegant old town and harbour evenings, then cross to Mahón for its grand natural port. Make time for Hauser & Wirth Menorca on Isla del Rey, a beautiful way to see the island’s creative side.

Private boat charter along the coast

One of the best ways to experience Menorca. Cruise the shoreline to coves only accessible by sea, drop anchor for snorkelling in clear water, then linger over an easy lunch before drifting on to the next cala.

Menorcan food and local markets

A simple, delicious way into the island’s character. Browse a morning market for local cheeses and seasonal produce, then settle in for an unhurried lunch of Menorcan favourites, from caldereta de langosta (in season) to fresh fish and island wines.

Camí de Cavalls, on foot or by bike

A historic trail that circles the island, best enjoyed in gentle stages. Walk or cycle between headlands and quiet beaches, with time for swims in tucked-away calas and long, scenic lunches along the way (or tackle the full loop if you are feeling ambitious).

Elsewhere, just as tempting

FAQs

Archiea nswers to some commonly asked questions about Ultimate Villas, including how booking works and how we tailor the details around your stay in Menorca.

What makes Menorca a good destination for a luxury villa holiday?

+

Menorca is all about understated luxury: quiet coves, crystal-clear water, brilliant walking, excellent local produce, and a slower pace than Mallorca or Ibiza. It is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which helps protect the island’s landscapes and limits overdevelopment, so it still feels very authentic and slightly stuck in time.

Are the villas in Menorca suitable for multi-generational groups with toddlers and teenagers?

+

Yes, there are plenty of villas well set up for multi-generational families. Some villas even offer a gated pool area for added peace of mind.

What makes a 'Luxury Finca' in Menorca different from a standard villa?

+

A luxury finca in Menorca tends to have a lot of character due to it being restored from an old farmhouse. It doesn't stick out and is more in tune with the landscape it sits on. Menorcan houses are all about the outdoor living and most of them have plenty of space for families to explore and find little nooks to go and read. The balance of history and luxury is what really set these properties apart.

Do the villas have a valid ETV license?

+

We only market luxury villas that can be legally rented for holidays, and we can provide the licence details for your chosen property.

How do the villas contribute to Menorca’s UNESCO status?

+

Menorca’s UNESCO designation is as a Biosphere Reserve, recognising the balance between conservation and local life. Our luxury villas support that ethos by focusing on properties that respect the island’s character and setting, with guidance on responsible use of water and energy and local, low-impact experiences.

Are the villas within walking distance to ‘Calas’ (Cove)?

+

Some are, some are not. Menorca’s best calas are often down coastal paths, so “walking distance” can mean a 10 minute stroll or a 30 minute scenic hike. We will confirm the exact walking time and route for any villa you shortlist, and we can filter options specifically for walk-to-cala access. Menorca is a small island so most coves are easily reached when renting a car.

Can we arrange a private chef for ‘Caldereta de Langosta’ (Lobster Stew)?

+

Yes of course, we can organise a private chef for your stay. We also work with local experts that help make your stay unforgettable.

Is a hire car essential for rural fincas?

+

It is very much advised to rent a car at one of these fincas to give you the freedom to explore the island. Whilst there are taxi's, they are not as readily available as they are in the other Balearic Islands. Menorca is a small island so no drive should be much longer than 45 minutes. We work with providers and can offer car rental services.

Are luxury villa holidays in Menorca ATOL/ABTA protected?

+

Ultimate Villas is part of The Ultimate Travel Company, which is ATOL and ABTA protected. The financial protection that applies will depend on how your holiday is arranged.

If your villa is booked as part of a package that includes flights, your holiday will be ATOL protected. For villa-only bookings, ABTA protection may apply depending on the services included. We will always explain what protection applies before you travel, so you can book with confidence knowing everything has been clearly set out.

Do you provide a 24/7 emergency response line?

+

Yes. All Ultimate Villas guests have access to 24/7 emergency support during their stay.

Where applicable, you will be provided with a dedicated local emergency contact for your villa, which will be shared in your final travel documentation shortly before departure. This ensures you have direct access to on-the-ground assistance should anything urgent arise.

In addition, our team remains available to support you with any serious or time-critical issues, offering reassurance and coordination when you need it most.

Archie's Menorca Top Tip

+

I would recommend a boat day as there are so many coves only accessible by boat that really are the epitome of Menorca.
